"The main thing I would like you to know is that we really can kill superbugs ... naturally."

My professional career in science, education and publishing has led the way to creating Designs For Wellbeing - an independent not-for-profit communications service. This delivers key arts/health messages, advocating citizenship, integrated approaches and designs for greater wellbeing of the local community.

In amongst my work as a writer, editor, web designer and pastel artist, you will find independent scientific research, looking directly at some natural practical solutions to the existing healthcare system's superbug crisis. There is international co-operative input from scientists, politicians, government departments and individuals.

As other parents will appreciate, it is a great reassurance that there are ways of protecting your family's health and wellbeing.

I have good news about sunlight. Just as the Ancient Egyptians and Romans knew as they designed their magnificent public buildings to promote wellbeing, the sunlight is vital to prevent infections and kill germs free of charge. Modern medicine seems to have forgotten this!

Now in the 21st Century, have you discovered phages yet? This is a branch of medicine and technology that I first heard about in microbiology lectures at Keele University in the early 70s. Thirty years later, it was to inspire my further independent research overseas into the advancement of phage science. This is now one of the main messages of Designs For Wellbeing as a public service.

To put phage therapy in historical context, even back in 1925, we were offered a US Pulitzer-prize-winning novel - Arrowsmith - about phages preventing a plague.

I have travelled abroad for many weeks to continue studying the health value of bacteriophages, thanks to a Winston Churchill Fellowship Award and additional support from forward-thinking organizations in the USA to attend phage conferences. My official report, plus photos, radio interviews and videos are accessible online from the news page.

You can help support this continuing research - just take a look at the Giant Microbes - aren't they cute?
